Let it go.

All this stuff that seems so significant, so meaningful, so truthful, all this shame and guilt, I should have said or done this or that, all the worry and anxiety about what people think of you, whether they like or respect you, let all of that go, because, it’s a waste of time.

It’s a waste, first and foremost, because you’re going to die, like every other living creature on this planet, and whatever it is that is causing you worry or dismay, will be lost to the annals of time. Time doesn’t care that you ghosted that woman, these women, and treated them poorly by ignoring their pleas for an explanation, or the stupid things you have said in front of other people, their offense and indignation, all of that disappears in the dustbin of death and time, the great equalizer.

All the grudges and wrongs you have endured, let those go too, because it doesn’t matter if this person started a rumor about you or that that person refuses to look you straight in the face, treating you like a subhuman, not worthy of their time.

You will forget, as you have already forgotten the thousands of perceived slights from years past. They are gone, disappeared, only housed in the farthest recesses of your mind, difficult to recall, only a fuzzy memory now, and all this stuff that feels so important right now, in a years time, it will be like those other memories: mostly forgotten.

They will lose their sting, their potency, their power over your cognition. You will no longer ruminate…
